why bubblewrap?

A Response

Throwing the dice, i will reposition the dice for each number showing to direct the shoe game piece. The question is the handling of the dice interacting with the screen. The response now is that I will use code for different positions of the dice to respond to the position of the shoe on the board, moving it across. Is that the  best way ago? or should I have the blocks light up in response with the position of the dice. How do i animate this effect.

proposal and etc. 11/11

Proposal

Food or sex? Are our acts of indulgence promoted by our human sexual behavior?  To contain sexual morality we direct or sexual cravings to different items of longing.  Gratification is found in pleasing the senses in other ways to replace sex.  I will use the senses touch, sight, hear, and taste in conjunction with the activities women might indulge in from being sexually eager.  The end of the board game will be located on the bed of my digiscape. The final destination will finally refer to “The Orgasim.  The ending will include a range of websites educating and promoting women’s expression of sexuality.  ”When leaving my digiscape, I attend for one to see acts of consumerism driven from sexual desires and for the women to be directed in being comfortable with releasing their own sexual tensions.

The style of the Work:

The overall projected style of my piece will reflect style of pop art. It will collage photographic images with illustrated elements and vector artwork. The attitude of being indulgent relates to the luxuries of satisfaction acknowledged in pop art. It is a topic addressed by pop artist. I intend to express the same ironic comments on the modern day consumerism as it relates to habitual greed.

How the game works

Roll dice. Number you roll is the number of spaces the shoe jumps to. Roll again until hit icon.  Once the player hits the icon, it goes to the scene. At each scene is two cards at bottom edge of page. There to player can return back at anytime to boardgame. When finished with scene by activity or by pressing the back card the player will be give a choice to end game or draw a card. Cards can help the player by jumping forward to a new scene, back to past, or just direct them back to dice rolling.

electric bird stimulation

click on the the notches and lines to here stuff.

Thursday, October 30, 2008

With my sound project, i found some utube videos of the sounds of power lines.  They brought me to the issue with birds on powerlines. There are many accounts noting the damage caused from the birds weighing the cords down. A couple I found were When Birds and Power Lines Collide and Bird Resistant PowerLines. In the Bird resistant power lines it mentions how windmills and mounted structures are placed on the poles to scare the birds. I began to focus on the energy through the power lines. Does the energy of the sound waves effect the birds? Is it stimulating, or is it aggressive at times. I will use the forming of birds on a power line the erect the sounds of volts, ice breaking, tree limbs cracking, and other sounds that effect the power lines. In return, it will physically have a result on the birds posted. here are some utube videos of sound from powerlines.

"Flow in Games"

I liked "Flow in Games" from the Museum of Sound Toys. The aesthetics of the environment connect surrealistically with the Atmospheric sound. The first time I opened it I wanted to be able to have control over the object linked to the mouse, I will call it a "glow fish." The longer I Moved it around the more relaxed I became with control. The music created a atmosphere for interaction, that lead me to control the "glow fish" with the same serene mood of the game. Then, being more graceful with the "glow fish" i was able to grow the links, scoring. The goal of the designer is for the consumer to reach a state a mood to succeed. I enjoy the set of the atmosphere in how it relates to nature; in movement and sound.  The object radiate  from one another, imitating the realistic relations of creatures in the sea. the images are very simplistic and undefined, exposing a theoretical approach to deep sea creatures. I enjoy this game because it effected my overall mood while playing. It has a calming effect unlike most games.

Reaction to Promote Vote!

I feel like the interaction between the characters and the students is rememberable and effective for the participants and the hosts. More rememberable for us, from working as a group and forming a successful event that was both entertaining and advising. The process of setting up the equipment, to shooting the interaction of the awareness between the candidate characters and participants, to editing the images, i feel like i have learned a new approach of interaction from the viewer of the "screen."  Some took a more serious approach by having their photo taken with their candidate of choice, most interacted with the candidates as the media of culture would promote. Using them as stump for jokes. Im most interested in how  the mass media promoted from the internet. tv, etc. effected the response of participants.   Maybe a study could be approached with this by having the participants fill a survey related to this idea and compare in to there reactions from the shoot. I might consider using photography and editing processes for a final project.

Who are you voting for?

We decided to bring the students together to ProVote with our group project. I went to the republican and democratic headquarters for support in educating the students on the issues the stance of each candidate. To help get the word out i posted a event on facebook( http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=31775238559) and placed reminders in student's mailboxes. I also created the signup sheet for the event. Eric made a great poster, Jordan pimped out some mask. and Vaan fixed up the blogs for the students to visit to collect their images and get Voting support. DaKoda created a handout honors the student's participate and informing them about the blog. With our outfits, the lights Dakoda got for us and my camera, we got the students involved in our project and we all had fun. Here are the images i edited.

List of Contributions:
gathered infomation from headquaters to inform students
typed sign-up sheet
made event on facebook, invited memphis college of Art network
Invites in student's mailboxes
Edited photos
Palin for shoot
Organized and sent images for editing from camera to server, zips, disk, etc.

Upgrade the FUN!

08/09/08

This project is a reflection of my past projects in relation to my content of my work throughout this class. I some crazy alien problems. With the cart scene, i had a problem with the image that pops up when the score is 0 and the objects in the bowl will not return to xstart and ystart positions once they have hit target?

No Place Like a SkyScrapper

I had a lot of trouble with animating my piece on targets. I ended up deleting what i had to have something some what legible as a working piece. I am aware this is considered a uncompleted piece at the moment and attend to have a portfolio work for next class. My attentions were to have the images blink once on right target and have the related images appear in replace of the drag-out images.

09/30/08 Bowl of Yum!

I altered my comp based on the suggestions given from class last thursday: I changed the registration on all items, created a button to screen back to the first scene, reconstructed my ice cream, changed the mouse events to interact with the ice cream, and played with the text more. The men are easier to eat, the square is no longer visible during the decrease of alpha. The registration is a little off on one of the men, in hopes that the user selects it last. This man includes a more active script to end the consumption process.

BOWL of yum! 9/25

I used all the mouse events presented from class tuesday. The beginning starts where you can decide your dish, am man or ice cream. I used alpha to delete the "food". I used the onReleaseOutside with the cherry, to play with your food once you are full. I am so excited about coding, this was fun! Qaaim and Dakoda were a big help. I would like to be able to go back to the final scene, to pick the dish?

quiz#2

1. What is the difference between event handler and fame event.

Event handlers allow you to create frames that is interactive with the viewer. You can create mulitple effects in one frame event for one demand, such as rotate, scale, etc when you scrollover, click, etc. Each line ends with (;)

Frame events are events within the frames, and they hold all the events of a single demand.

practice with actionscript

This is what i got! I used all the suggested effects. Internet sources helped me alot. However, I only know how to apply effects with rollover or rollout? It wasn't as hard as i thought it was going to be. fun fun...

final digiscape for animations

I reversed the scenes i already hand and changed my mask to a rectangle during the window scene. I added to the beginning, keeping everything flashy. After the opening screen you see bubbles popping elements from my digicape. The fourth to pop is a shoe which steps, using the tints, into the previous frame of the shoe reviewed last week. The reverse makes it feel like everything is starting to seattle down at the end. I had problems downloading in zippyfiles. It said i already downloaded the exact file previously and would not let me uploaded. I tried renaming the file and opening it back up in the flash and making a new swf. Neither worked so their is a link below from megaswf.com.

playing with actionscript

I made a mask over a layer using actionscript like we did and class and i also made it rotate. I tried changing the x and y axis but it got messy. I also tried using multiple keyframes with the x and y, which is maybe why i had problems with that and not the rotation or the masking. i also discovered that once i type comments i must delete both for flash to realize in is no longer a comment? I couldn't erase just one (/) and leave the other for actionscript. I had to delete both retype.

digiscape with mask video

digiscape with mask

I attempted to rotate my martini glass across the landscape to monk a tornado but I couldn't achieve the right effect and I ended up deleting the effects I made. At the end I used a mask to illustrate areas of my digiscape in a peep session, while windows duplicated from my sky scrapper flash rapidly stirring a feel of anxiety. From there it zooms in at scale into face of blow-up doll, suggesting a memory which is soon neglected with the thought of shoes, another source of fulfillment in my life. The speedy activity within my piece relates the lack of retainment from overindulging.

first animation for digiscape

I started my animation by using my paper plane to sorta turn on my landscape. I used the plane to scroll over the images, transforming from black and white to color. The flowers swirl, the sun swirls, the bubbles pop, the clouds rain, and the my blow-up man throws the cherry in the appitini after getting rained on from the chocolate cloud. I Forgot had to use ease tool with the direction path, but I was able to achieve the effects i wanted without it. Following my concept of reusing items of my indulgence, i use the blow-up man interactingwith sexual foods, such as the chocolate and the cherry. Throwing the cherry into the glass, refers to "popping a cherry."

quiz#1

1. A symbol is the first image, which appears in the library. The instance is a duplicate of that symbol within the same layer. It can contain the same keyframes of the original symbol.

2. A black frame is a frame which contains some type of animation, (a move, scale, color, etc. change to a symbol). A empty keyframe is just that, empty. It appears when the layer is invisible in timeframes.

3. it is one of the most poplar, highly used programs and you can easily prepare your animations, videos, etc. for web

4. You can only use a  motion twin with keyframes of a symbol.

5> If you select a object how can you tell if its a shape or a symbol?
A shape turns a foggy color and the symbol will have a box around it with a pt in the middle which you can use to transform. You cannot use a direction path with a shape

santana's digiscape

B.
Creating my digiscape, i decided to develope a landscape of the elements in my life that I have been known to consume to much of. With gluttony I have become aware of why too much of a good thing is bad for me. I decided to put to use all that I over-indulged in to the point of waste and created a land. I used color, lines, and images to complete a visually interesting digiscape.

geographical schema, julie Mehretu

A.

Elements of my digiscape will be inspired by Julie's geometric abtractions. I like the the density she creates with line and geometric shape. The remind me of maps with the contrast of color with black and white.

Question for Rachel Greene's A History of Internet art

C.
In the article it mentions that net.art  is art that is merged with everyday life (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0268/is_9_38/ai_65649375/pg_7?tag=artBody;col1). Our quick and easy lifestyles revolve around everything from food to electronics. How is the popularity of net.art connected to our cultural needs?

review on www.soundtoys.net

Soundtoys  http://www.soundtoys.net/ is a exhibition of audio visual artist developed by technology. It is a well organized, designed website for viewers to discover artist and for artist to contribute to each other. It provided news and resources contributing to netart. I find their journal to be strong attribute of the website. In the journal one can find essays and interview with digital media artist fast. Its clean appearance makes it a strong website to promote netart and the artist who create it.

My favorite is the interfaces of amorphoscapes http://www.soundtoys.net/toys/amorphorscapes. Its a exploration of texture and line structure.

questions 1-5

1.yes, anytime new media is used our perception of art is changed. Yet, it is similar to past art in its being of a entertainment structure as a art form.

2. I think the digital art work of earlier artist must be view separately. In comparing one to newer digital art, you have to recognize the first digital works as building blocks for the new.

3. It is art if someone finds it to be art. I believe it to be art. I don't know if there is any aesthetic criteria? The term netart doesn't bother me. Other art movements have had similar names, like Pop Art.

4. How do you think would be good ways to stimulate the user to dive into this new world of art?
If the users were able to be identified as a limb of the artwork, since their interaction is important for the art's existance.
What do you think represents an appropriate environment to present net based art to an audience?
I think the personal contact between a person and the computer screen is the most appropriate environment.
If you would be in the position to create an environment for presenting this type of art in physical space, how would you do it?
first thoughts is a inclosed box that viewers can travel through, connect the different netart works together.
5.As Internet based art, as well as other art forms using new technologies are (globally seen) still not widely accepted, yet, as serious art forms, what do you think could be an appropriate solution to change this situation?
The placing of netart in museums, or attention from media.

Question from Interview with Vuk Cosic

After reading the interview with Vuk Cosic, i found a article on Tate Intermedia art discussing how Net Art is critiqued as post-humanism. Can the growing population of netart in museums limit it's attack on inauthentic identities? If so, how can we connect its acceptance with other avant-grade art of the past, like expressionism.

"Conceptual art, so too is Net Art's supposed 'techno-formalist' variant undergoing heavy critique. In some ways, this critique is connected to a wider rejection of posthumanism and its insistence on the distinction between humans and machines, animals and humans and, perhaps most crucially, the physical and the non-physical."
